I have worked as a speech and language therapist in the private sector and the NHS for many years. Since qualifying at City University I have continued to update my knowledge through training and study. Including shape coding, intensive interaction, makaton and PECS (picture exchange system) training and completing a masters in speech and language therapy.

I specialise in working with children on the autistic spectrum and children with social communication difficulties. I also have experience and specific training in working with children with Down Syndrome, specific language impairments, learning difficulties and in supporting and training early years settings.

I have experience of working in schools, nurseries and children’s own homes. I strongly believe in a holistic approach and am happiest offering a combined service including direct therapy with the child, advice and training in their educational setting and support to families.

In working with children on the autistic spectrum I have contributed to education programs utilising both ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) and TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children) and my approach utilises what I feel are the positives from both these styles. Therapy and advice can be tailored to either style of education depending on you and your child’s own preferences.
